Isus was born on March 4, 2000, at Shatadoe Kennels out of Australian champions Despreaux Maizcay Patou and Shatadoe Silver Shadow.

It is common cause that the Pyrenean Mountain Dog traces its roots back to a family of large dogs who roamed colder climes during the Bronze Age (1800-1000BC). However, there are two distinct theories of how the breed developed in the Pyrenean Mountains of France and Spain.

One school of thought identifies the Pyrenean as descendant from the Tibetan Mastiff, which accompanied wandering herdsmen and rapacious conquerors from the Far East into Europe's mountainous regions.

Critics point out the Tibetan Mastiff's darker coat, firmly placing the Pyrenean's ancestry with the paler flock guardians of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). These fanciers believe Pyrenean forebears migrated to Europe from Andalusia in two waves. By sea, they accompanied Phoenician traders to Spain, before migrating into the Spanish Pyreneans.

A second wave of immigrants accompanied the Aryan invasion of Europe, leaving pockets of descendants in mountain valleys, where they developed into distinct breeds, such as the Maremma (Italy), Kuvasz (Hungary), Komondor (Hungary) and the Tatra (Poland).

Isus shows typical breed characteristics, with a regal appearance - as if in acknowledgement of her lineage as companion dogs of the French royal house.

This independent nature, however, is tempered with an exuberant show of affection after spells of absence from her owners.

Patient and tolerant, Isus loves nothing more than being swamped by hugs and kisses - whether on the emerald green carpet in the lounge or the autumn gold of the bedroom duvet.

While respectful towards Linyanti, Savuti and Moremi, even when they feed, Isus reserves her greatest love for her soul-mate, Genghis.
